Bao is currently working as an Operations Assistant at the BBC Scotland after graduating from Stirling with an MSc Business Analytics.
My degree has had a significant impact on shaping my career path. It equipped me with both the analytical mindset and technical skills required in the field of Business Analytics.
The course prepared me for real-world challenges by combining theory with practical applications
One of the main highlights of my course has been the strong combination of Business Analytics modules and technical training in tools such as R and machine learning. This blend has given me a well-rounded skill set and a clearer understanding of what it takes to become a modern Business Analyst with up-to-date, practical expertise.
I was also particularly impressed by how well the course is structured. The way the modules are designed has helped me progressively build both my analytical thinking and technical abilities, allowing me to gain deeper insights over time.
I really enjoyed the overall student experience at the University of Stirling
The campus environment is one of its most special aspects. The loch and surrounding scenery create a peaceful atmosphere that I truly value. Even now, six months after completing my course, I still return to campus most Saturdays to enjoy the greenery and sense of calm.
The sports facilities were another highlight for me. I made full use of them during my studies and have continued my gym membership even after graduating, as they are such an important part of my routine.
I was a member of the Student Ambassador team, which was one of the best experiences during my time at university. It gave me the opportunity to meet people from different faculties and backgrounds, while also experiencing a more professional working environment. This experience played a valuable role in helping me develop key skills and confidence, which supported me in securing my first job in the UK.
My advice to anyone wanting to study at Stirling
My main advice would be to take full advantage of the campus environment. Whenever you feel stressed, step outside, take a walk, and let the natural surroundings help you reset - it really makes a difference to your wellbeing.
For international students, I’d also recommend bringing some warm clothing, but not too much. Just pack enough to get you through the first few weeks, as you can easily buy anything else you need once you arrive.
Finally, make sure to check the 'vacancies of the week' session on the University of Stirling Career Instagram page regularly as there's always some great jobs coming up. I found my current job on there!
