Why did you decide to study a postgraduate course?

I was keen to enhance my knowledge and skills as an advanced practitioner and I was keen to explore workplace learning given that I work in a specialised field (mental health and deafness) and keen to use my experience of working in this area.

What attracted you to Stirling?

The course and the content was what I was looking for with specific modules that linked into mental health.

What did you enjoy most about your time at the University of Stirling?

Staff were very friendly and welcoming and always willing to support in any way that they can. Also emphasis on using your clinical experience and knowledge through the entire course allowing you to develop as an advanced practitioner.

Which aspects of the programme did you enjoy the most?

Varied teaching approaches no matter where you are in the world you can access the materials that you need as well as attending study days. Being able to fit the course around other professional/personal commitments and working with a verity of other students in varied areas of practice.

Do you think the degree has made you more employable, or better prepared for further study? If yes, what are the key skills? What contacts/networks have you made in your time at Stirling?

The course has enhanced my study and academic skills, for example, my ability to critique academic material along with using quality improvement methods to improve practice.

What advice would you give a student considering studying at Stirling?

Stirling campus itself is stunning and a great place to study. However, the course is accessible remotely. The course has a variety of different modules which are embedded in current practice and research.

How would you summarise your time at Stirling?

I have expanded my knowledge and skills which has had a huge impact on practice. At times, it has been hard work and stressful but very worthwhile.

If you have now graduated, what are you doing now? If not, what do you hope to do?

I'm due to finish the course in 2016. As I am currently working as an advance nurse practitioner gaining my masters is an essential qualification for my practice.
