Nicholas's Story
Awarded a scholarship by his employer, the Central Bank of Seychelles, Nicholas Cetoupe has spent a year studying towards an MSc Financial Technology at Stirling.
“Financial Technology was the focal point of this scholarship – and was awarded at the juncture when universities were just starting to formulate courses in this realm. The University of Stirling was one of the few early movers in this regard – and the course contents were perfectly angled to cover both the financial and more technical aspects.”
The 33-year-old appreciated the “passion, dedication and availability” of his lecturers, adding: “This course offered amazing opportunities if one dedicated themselves fully.”
While in Scotland, Nicholas took the opportunity to attend a number of FinTech meet-ups in Edinburgh and Glasgow, explaining: “They offered great inspirational ideas and helped to further fuel my passion.”
He also enjoyed hiking and cycling across the Stirling area and helping out at the Green and Blue Space – the environmental hub on campus.
Nicholas – who describes his time at Stirling as “impactful, rewarding and exhilarating” – has returned to work at the Central Bank of Seychelles.
“I have returned with lots of fresh ideas – some span beyond my current field of work but they could also benefit the country at a national level.”
