BSc Paramedic Science

Saoirse Allen

Being part of the first intake of Paramedic students at the University of Stirling has been a whirlwind. The approach to learning has involved a blend of theory and practice, classroom and online sessions and hands on placement experience with both the Scottish Ambulance Service and the NHS. The facilities at University of Stirling have provided interactive and dynamic learning experiences and staff have always been available to help and guide my progress.

It has been a joy to be able to put clinical and theoretical knowledge into practice so early on in my studies in a variety of healthcare settings. I have found that this variety of placement opportunities has given me a broader understanding of my future role as a Paramedic within the healthcare system. Whether out on an ambulance or working on a ward, there is always something to learn!

I am excited to learn and develop my skills and knowledge in order to become a rounded, competent and skilled paramedic. Given the global pandemic this year has not been without its challenges; but I am confident that when I graduate, I will be fully prepared and ready to join a profession that I love.
