BAcc (Hons) Accountancy and Marketing

What first attracted you to choose the University of Stirling to study your course?
Course choice and flexibility - no other university offered Accountancy and Marketing as a joint degree. The campus is beautiful and there was the option to stay in university accommodation for all four years, which is not offered at other universities. Also I was aware that there a high percentage of students are in employment after studying at the University of Stirling.

What are the benefits you found as a result of studying at Stirling?
I am much more employable - I did a module called Professional Development and Practice which helps to enhance and develop your core skills for the world of work. My communication and teamwork has improved too.

There are many clubs and societies to join - I was in the Business Club and the Dance Club. I also organised Stirling Language Immersion (language exchange classes), which allowed me to meet people from all over the world and become more culturally aware, as well as learn a new language.

What specific feature(s) did you like the most about the course?
The one on one support from lecturers/tutors. There are also plenty of opportunities to do more with your degree. For example, I had the opportunity to participate in the Amplify Trading Boot Camp which allowed me to learn about financial markets and trade stock on an online platform - topics out with my degree, but relevant for a career in the accountancy sector, making me more employable.

What advice would you give to prospective students considering coming to Stirling?
Course choice and flexibility is second to none. Teaching is high quality and the experience at Stirling is incomparable. The library facilities and Career Development Centre are fantastic, making Stirling a great place to study and become more employable. I highly recommend Stirling, not only for the beautiful campus, but also for all the brilliant people you meet from all over the world, as it's so international.

What impact do you think your studies will have on your future career?
I did a four month internship in Barcelona with and Erasmus traineeship, partly funded by the University. I was a Digital Marketing Analyst and Content Writer for a luxury villa rental company, where I learned more about the marketing side of my degree and gained international experience which stands out to employers. Next month, I will be starting a graduate role as an Audit Assistant at RSM, the fifth largest accountancy firm in the world, in their London Gatwick office.

Anything else you would like to share about your Stirling experience?
My four years at Stirling have been nothing short of fantastic. I've had the opportunity to live and work abroad, gain a Trading and Financial Market Analysis certificate, make friends from all around the world, and create lifelong memories. I highly recommend Stirling and I'm glad I chose to spend my four years here.
