Looking back at my experience as a postgraduate student at the University of Stirling I can safely say that it was one of the most pleasant experiences in my life. I not only graduated with a Masters degree which kick started my career but also met my wife, a fellow Masters student!
The overall atmosphere (campus, location, Stirling as a city) and above all the people at Stirling made the difference and created an environment to support students to get the most out of the programme.
When I left Stirling I realised that the knowledge I obtained at Stirling equipped me very well for a career in the investment industry and I found that my skills compared favourably with those of other graduates when I entered the job market. I started my career as an Equity Analyst at ING Barings London, and then moved to a post as an Equity Fund Manager at Alpha Asset Management. From there I moved to the position of Head of Equity Sales at Alpha Private Bank and in 2006 I joined Citi Private Bank as Investment Counselor. After a successful three year period I was appointed as Senior Private Banker at Citi, a role that cemented my relationship management skills and offered me a broader perspective of the Private Wealth Management business and from there I moved to my current position of Investment Research and Advice Head at Citibank Greece.
Since graduating from Stirling I have recommended it to numerous people that have asked my personal view on postgraduate study options. I certainly plan to visit Stirling again, this time with my two young daughters!
