PhD student awarded grants for her research

The Centre's second-year PhD student Rhona Ramsay has been successful in acquiring a number of grants.

£1000 from the Arts Scholars Research Award of The Worshipful Company of Arts Scholars to carry out research into hornware in Kilmarnock, Kircudbright and Aberdeen.

£300 from the Scottish Society for Art History for a research trip to Oban to look at the Brooch of Lorn.

A bid she developed with the Highland Folk Museum to support the building of the bough tent was also successful (£1500 to carry out an event themed around Traveller culture and heritage as part of the Festival of Museums in May), as was a request for support for the cutting and bending of the boughs and filming of the process (£2000 from Historic Environment Scotland.
