Dr Tim Newfield
Tim studies the environmental, economic and medical history of early medieval Europe. His publications and ongoing research interweave the methods and results of multiple disciplines in an effort to articulate some fundamental determinants of human health — climate, disease (epidemic, epizootic, endemic), diet, food production and food shortage. He earned his PhD at McGill University, Montreal, in 2011, was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, 2011–2013, and an Impact Research Fellow at the University of Stirling, 2013–2014. He is now a Banting Research Fellow at Princeton University.
