Commonwealth Games 2026

This summer, the Commonwealth Games arrive in Scotland. We will be supporting our athletes as they compete for medals on the international stage in Glasgow from 23 July to 2 August 2026.

As Scotland's University for Sporting Excellence, we have a strong track record in developing and supporting our athletes to achieve their goals, including winning medals at the Olympics, World Championships and Commonwealth Games. A record number of University of Stirling athletes will compete at the Commonwealth Games this summer - with 22 sportsmen and women representing six different countries across four sports.

We are proud to be the Official University Partner of Team Scotland, with 16 of our athletes competing for the hosts. Among them is Scotland's most decorated Olympian, Duncan Scott OBE, artistic gymnasts Crystelle Lake and Cameron Lynn, and wheelchair basketball player Shayne Humphries. Notably, our swim coaches Ben Higson and Bradley Hay will lead Team Scotland's swimmers at the Games.

Olympic swim champions Tom Dean and Freya Anderson (both England) and Jack McMillan (Northern Ireland) will also compete for their respective nations in Glasgow, while other Stirling athletes will represent Isle of Man, Malaysia and Trinidad and Tobago. Find out more about our athletes below.

In other activity, our community turned out in large numbers to welcome the King's Baton Relay to campus; many of our students and staff are volunteering as part of the workforce delivering the Games, and our celebrated Commonwealth Games Scotland Archive is being displayed at Scotland House in Glasgow.
