Michael is a specialist in data, analytics and AI leadership with 20 years’ experience working at the intersection of industry demand, emerging technology capability and workforce development.

Through his work at MBN, he has partnered with organisations across the UK, Europe and the US on more than 3,000 senior and strategic hires in data science, engineering, MLOps and applied AI.

This work has given him deep insight into how data teams are structured, the capabilities organisations value, and the skills and behaviours required for data science to deliver meaningful impact in real-world settings.

Michael’s perspective is grounded in close collaboration with industry leaders, enabling him to identify evolving role profiles, closing capability gaps, and future skills trends across the data science profession.

Dr Gustavo Ordonez-Sanz, Head of AI Applied Architecture at Moody’s Analytics

Gustavo is a senior leader in AI, quantitative analytics and applied data science with more than 20 years’ experience spanning scientific research, consulting and financial services

Currently a senior director at Moody’s Analytics, he leads global teams of quantitative analysts and data scientists developing advanced risk management and GenAI-enabled analytics across credit, market, climate and financial crime domains.

His experience combines rigorous scientific training, including doctoral research as a member of the ATLAS experiment at CERN with senior industry roles at HSBC, Credit Suisse and KPMG.

This has given him deep insight into how advanced analytics, machine learning and data engineering are applied in complex, regulated environments and the skills required for data science to deliver meaningful impact in practice.
