Teaching and Education is concerned with the processes around acquiring knowledge and skills or facilitating learning. They are rewarding areas of study where you can really make a difference to people’s lives, whether that is through teaching or undertaking educational research.

We have a vast array of Teaching and Education degrees at Stirling covering many areas from primary and secondary teaching to management and professional qualifications for those looking to progress in their career. There’s teaching qualification courses for those wanting to work in a Further Education setting and we also have courses in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).

Graduate careers in Teaching and Education

Our Teaching and Education graduates leave fully equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to work in a variety of educational settings.

Many of our degrees will lead you directly into your chosen role such as an early years, primary or secondary school teacher, a further education teacher or a teacher of TESOL. Our Masters degrees allow those already in education and teaching to progress further in their career into leadership and management roles.

Graduates with Teaching and Education degrees would also be highly valued in other professions such as careers advice, corporate training and development, counselling, museum and leisure education or media.

Partnerships and industry

Our Primary and Secondary Education degrees are accredited by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), meaning that on successful completion you can apply for provisional registration as a teacher. Our MSc Education Leadership course is also accredited by GTCS.


We have a student run Teaching and Education Society for all those interested in education. They aim to build the skills of student teachers and bring together a community of educators.
