Brazil

Undergraduate

Completion of High School with average grades of 8.5/10

Postgraduate

Minimum of 6.5/10 or equivalent in Titulo de Bacharel / Licenciado / Professional title (4 years)

Canada

Undergraduate

We welcome applications from students holding the Canadian High School or Secondary School Diploma with an average of 75% in Grade 12.

Postgraduate

We welcome applications from students holding a minimum 2.8/4 or 70% or B in a Bachelor's (Honours) degree or a Professional Degree.

Chile

Undergraduate

The University of Stirling normally requires school leavers from Chile to complete a Foundation Year for entry to the University. For further information regarding the University of Stirling's Foundation programmes, please visit here.

Additionally, the University will welcome applications from students who have completed one year of relevant university study.

Colombia

Undergraduate

School leavers are required to complete a Foundation Year for entry to the University.

Applications are welcomed from students who have completed one year of university study.

Postgraduate

Minimum of 6.5 in Titulo de Bacharel or Liceniado (4 years)

Mexico

Undergraduate

We require school leavers to complete a Foundation Year for entry to the University. We also welcome applications from students who have completed one year of university study.

The University accepts a variety of qualifications for entry to undergraduate study, such as:

GCE A Levels

American High School Diploma/ SATs/ APs

Postgraduate

We welcome applications from students holding a minimum of 8.0/10 in the Licentiatura/Licenciado for most of our Masters level courses.

English language requirements

Submission of IELTS and other recognised English language tests may be waived on a case by case basis, if the medium of instruction at previous study was in English and within the last five years. We require an official letter from your university or college. Please note that this waiver does not apply for courses that require higher than an IELTS 6.0.

Peru

Undergraduate

Minimum of 13/20 in Grado Academico de Bachiller or Titulo de Licenciado or Titulo (Professional) de (subject area)

USA

Undergraduate

The University of Stirling welcomes applications on the Common Application as well as UK UCAS application and our Direct Application form available on our website.

We recognise that many standardised tests within the USA have been cancelled due to COVID-19. Under the current circumstances and to support our applicants from the USA, we will be test-optional for entry to the 2022/2023 academic year until further notice. If you have been unable to book or complete any standardised tests, we will undertake a comprehensive review and selection process to evaluate applications. This will include reviewing your high school transcript, personal statement and reference letter. The University of Stirling still welcomes applications with any test scores you have already received as well as an indication of any tests you still intend to complete. In some circumstances we may ask you to provide further information to assist us in the admissions process.

Once you have submitted your application, please let the International Recruitment Manager (Americas) or the admissions team know if you are unable to take a standardised test or if you have any questions about our entry requirements.

American High School Diploma:

We normally require US applicants to hold a combination of the following qualifications for entry; as a minimum, applicants must hold an accredited high school diploma with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale, minimum B average), and one letter of reference. If submitting test scores, we ask for any of the following:

  • ACT composite score of 26 or above (with no individual section below 24)
  • SAT - Post March 2016: Score 1200
  • Two AP tests at grade 3 or above (taken in junior or senior year of high school)
  • Two SAT II subject tests with 550-600 in each

International Baccalaureate
We welcome applications from students studying towards the full International Baccalaureate diploma. Normally, applicants are required to obtain an overall score of between 26 - 34 points, depending on the course they're applying to. Certain subjects may be stipulated dependent on the course being applied to.

Postgraduate

We welcome applications from students holding a relevant Bachelor's degree with a GPA of 2.7 for entry to most of our Masters level courses.
