Place is a high priority within a UK policy and practice landscape that is focused on improving the outcomes for people in place and redistributing resource to those places most in need. Alongside this, place is a strategic priority for UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).

In 2021, the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) appointed a new Programme Director for Place: Rebecca Madgin, Professor of Urban Studies at the University of Glasgow. The priority research programme that she leads is demonstrating the many ways approaches from the arts and humanities can contribute to how we understand place and shape future places.

This presentation will introduce the Place programme and the research conducted during Phase One (Oct 2021 - March 2023), which culminated in the report: Developing a People-Centred, Place-Led Approach: The Value of the Arts and Humanities.

This session will be chaired by Dr Vanicka Arora.

Speaker: Dr Elizabeth Robson

Dr Elizabeth Robson is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Stirling.
