About me

Stella Mouroutsou is a Lecturer in Education at the University of Stirling where she teaches a range of undergraduate modules for the BA (Hons) / BSc (Hons) Education (Primary) and supervises master’s and doctoral research.

Her research interests focus on inclusion as a response to the stigmatisation and exclusion of children viewed as different because of characteristics of their identity (such as disability, race etc). Her approach as a researcher brings together inclusive education and education policy that apply to teacher education and early childhood education and within that she focuses on Social, Emotional, and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD) and other areas, grounded in a commitment to equity and social justice to education.

Stella has worked as a research assistant and graduate teaching assistant at the University of Glasgow where she graduated with a PhD in 2017, having previously worked as a primary and kindergarten teacher.

Stella is the Convenor of the Inclusive Education Network of the Scottish Educational Research Association (SERA) (https://www.sera.ac.uk/inclusive-education-network/ ) and member of the Scottish Universities Inclusion Group (SUIG) (https://www.scde.ac.uk/scottish-universities-inclusi ).
