Students from Muscat celebrating graduation

A group of graduates are today celebrating their achievements after receiving their degrees from the University of Stirling during a special ceremony at Muscat College in Oman.

The 150 students from courses across accountancy, business, and computing subjects received their academic awards from senior members of the University. The courses are delivered in partnership with Muscat College.

Stirling’s Professor Paul Freathy travelled to Muscat to celebrate the students’ achievements, along with University colleague Dr Mario Kolberg. They were joined at Muscat College by His Highness Sayyid Fahir Bin Fatik Al Said, honoured guest, His Highness Sayyid Dr Adham Bin Turki Al Said Sheikh, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr Ahmed Bin Abdullah Al Ghazali, Founder and Chairman, and Sharifa Bint Ahmed Al Ghazali, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors.

“It is always a privilege to be part of a graduation ceremony and to be able to share in the celebrations of our students as their dedication and ambition is recognised,” Professor Freathy said.

“The students who leave this ceremony having become Stirling graduates become proud members of our global alumni family, which now counts more than 92,000 people in 170 countries.”

The ceremony took place at Muscat College, with 16 students graduating in Computing Science; 52 in Business Studies; 17 in Accountancy and Computing Science; 37 in Accountancy and Business Studies; and 28 in Business Computing.

Earlier this year, Stirling launched an MSc Big Data after receiving approval from the Omani Ministry of Education.

The prospects of Stirling graduates are bolstered by the University’s excellent employability credentials, with more than 96 percent of graduates in work or further study within six months.
