A new agreement between the University of Stirling and Forth Valley College will allow students to progress onto a nursing degree programme.

The articulation agreement will offer students on the College’s HNC Care and Administrative Practice the opportunity to advance their studies by entering into year two of the University’s nursing degree programmes in Adult or Mental Health Nursing.

Students on the HNC programme must complete 600 hours of placement during their year of study and gain an A in their Graded Unit to be eligible for consideration.

Shona Barrie, Director Admissions and Access, University of Stirling, said: “We are delighted that students on the HNC in Care and Administrative Practice can now articulate directly into year two of our Nursing degrees. Students coming through this articulation route with our partner, Forth Valley College, will be able to complete their nursing degree in two years, rather than three.”

Hannah Ritchie, Head of Department, Care, Health and Sport, Forth Valley College, said: “We are delighted that this articulation arrangement has been approved as it provides progression opportunities for a number of our HNC students who are committed to furthering a career in Nursing and recognises our HNC as a key part of that learner journey.

“This arrangement will form part of our guidance and advice for students who will be encouraged to apply for a place at our local university.”
