A University of Stirling student has been selected as a panel member for the sportscotland Young People’s Sport Panel – a scheme designed to develop and empower the next generation of leaders in sport.

Holly Wilkie-Milne, a second-year Sport and Exercise Science student and a member of the British Curling performance programme, was one of 20 individuals to be selected through a competitive recruitment process.

The Young People’s Sport Panel provides a national platform to represent the voice of young people across Scotland, giving them the opportunity to help influence and shape the future of sport in Scotland and raise the profile of sport.

Holly is among the seventh cohort who will get the chance to engage with national agencies, government bodies and Scotland's wider sporting community. Her tenure will run until 31 December 2026.

Originally hailing from Perth, Holly has already had an incredible journey within the sport of curling. Taking up the sport at seven years old, she moved through her local junior pathway before going on to compete internationally at the highest level.

Holly was a member of the GB team that secured victory at the World Junior Curling Championships in Füssen, Germany in March 2023 and recently represented Great Britain at the World University Games in Torino, Italy.

Holly Wilkie-Milne said: “The Young People’s Sport Panel is a brilliant platform to make positive and lasting change in Scottish sport, and combining this opportunity with my drive to understand and improve the relatively unknown relationship between sport and neurodiversity is very exciting.”

David Bond, Head of Performance Sport at the University of Stirling, said: "It is fantastic to see Holly take this next step toward becoming a voice in Scottish sport and a young leader and role model for others. Her passion for improving access and opportunities in sport for young people, combined with her exemplary track record as an elite athlete, makes her an ideal candidate for this prestigious role and we wish her every success."
