Each year, history and heritage students plan an exhibition in the University library. This year the exhibition focuses on the University of Stirling’s alumnus, and professional Scottish author, Iain Banks. The collection was donated to the University after Banks' death in 2013 and features fan mail, book covers, and more. This never-before-seen collection will be on display from April 4, 2024, to mid-August.

Iain Banks was a Scottish author who rose to fame after publishing his first novel, The Wasp Factory. He went on to write realistic fiction under Iain Banks, and science fiction under the name Iain M. Banks. Other notable books he penned include The Crow Road, the Culture series, and The Bridge.
