Dr Isaac Tabner, Senior Lecturer in Finance at the Stirling Management School, said: 'Colin is a highly regarded fund manager who founded and has led SVM during a period when most independent fund managers in Scotland have been taken over or merged.'

'We are very lucky to be able to welcome him back to his second guest lecture. It is a valuable opportunity for our students.'

Mr McLean was head of investment at Scottish Provident from 1986 to 1988 and then CEO for Europe at Templeton until 1990, before founding Scottish Value Management (now SVM).

He is a regular contributor to financial publications and guest on BBC TV and Radio and Bloomberg TV.

The lecture will be held in Cottrell Lecture Theatre W1 at 2pm.
