Fright Night Fun Run

More than 150 hardy souls braved the cold last night (30 October) to take part in the inaugural Fright Night Fun Run at the University of Stirling.

Students, athletes, staff and members of the community donned their scariest costumes to run, jog and walk the 2.4km route around the campus loch.

Chris Black was first male and overall winner with an impressive time of 8 minutes 30 seconds whilst first female was Carrie Banks in 9 minutes 47 seconds. The University’s high performance golf team took home the group prize and title of best dressed went to Grace Gallagher.

Commenting on the fun run, event organiser and Student Sport Experience Officer, Amy Beattie, said: “It’s been a fantastic night and we’ve been really impressed with the effort of everyone who’s come along.

“There was a really fun atmosphere and we hope all the participants enjoyed themselves as much as we did.”

Cathy Gallagher, the University of Stirling’s Director of Sport, added: “It was brilliant to see so many students and families taking part in an excellent community event and the barometer of success was the enjoyment on the faces of children and adults as they braved the inaugural Fright Night Run!

“I’d like to extend special thanks to Amy for her tireless efforts to make the event a success and also to the volunteers who have been a great support during the planning stages and on the night.”
