Why Stirling?

There are many reasons why the University of Stirling is an ideal choice if you’re looking for a study abroad or exchange experience. Here are just a few.

Who can apply?

If you’re enrolled as an undergraduate degree student at any accredited higher education institution outside of the UK, you can apply to study for a semester or a year here. We welcome students from all years of undergraduate study. You’ll earn credits towards your home university degree and be able to enhance your employability and life skills.

Before you apply, check our English language requirements.

You can choose to study in our Autumn or Spring semesters, or both. Alternatively, you may like to do a Summer School abroad. Find out more about our International Summer School.

You can apply to join our Study Abroad Programme as either an Exchange student or a Study Abroad fee-paying student.

What can I study?

We have over 25 subject areas on offer. Our Study Abroad Course Catalogue outlines all the modules you can choose to study in the Autumn and Spring semesters. You’re welcome to apply to take modules in any subject area, not just related to your degree. Don’t worry if you don’t have the exact prerequisites, you only need to make sure you’re selecting modules at the appropriate level of study.

When you complete your modules, we’ll send an official transcript of your grades to your home institution.

Duration of study

As a study abroad student, you can choose to study with us for either a semester or a full year as part of your undergraduate degree. You can come for Semester 1 and/or Semester 2.

Semester 1:
10 September 2018 – 17 December 2018

Semester 2:
14 January 2019 – 31 May 2019

Transition from study abroad to a full degree

Many of our study abroad students enjoy their time at the University of Stirling so much, they want to come back for more. If this is the case for you, there’s the option to transfer here for your full degree. If you meet our entry requirements, this is a straightforward process. Come and meet with one of our dedicated advisors during your semester abroad to discuss your options.
