Study a Masters degree in Big Data and Data Science

Demand for data scientists and analysts is on the rise and employers require skills such as scripting languages, big data, SQL databases and machine learning to interpret big data and apply it in practice. Our courses have been developed in partnership with organisations to fill this gap and prepare the data scientists of the future.

MSc Data Science for Business

Starting in September or January

  • Gain an understanding of advanced analytics and their application in strategic and operational decision-making.

  • Specialise in finance or data science and management.

MSc Big Data

Starting in September or January

  • Learn skills in cutting-edge technology such as Data Analytics, R, Hadoop, NoSQL and Machine Learning.
  • Student projects including the possibility of paid internships.
  • The course is accredited by the British Computing Society.

MSc Mathematics and Data Science

Starting in September or January

  • One of the first courses to link the two key areas of mathematics and data science.
  • Combines mathematics with technology from Big Data and AI.
  • Opportunity to carry out a consultancy project.

Postgraduate loans

Fee loans of up to £7,000 are available for eligible full-time and part-time postgraduate courses from Student Awards Agency Scotland. Living-cost loans of up to £6,900 also available.

Postgraduate Merit Scholarship

Any UK student with a First Class Honours degree (or equivalent) can apply for a £2,000 scholarship to study full-time on any eligible taught Masters course.
