The naughty algorithm, the chaotic algorithm, the baby algorithm who is still learning, the "dumb," unnuanced algorithm. All these are "algorithm adjectives," real terms we have observed in use at scholarly conferences focusing on the present and near-future of publishing. These adjectives are not exclusive to the scholarly sphere, but find their equivalents in media reports: flawed, secretive, shaky, and uncanny algorithms.
