About me

My main research interests are in the social and economic determinants of health and health behaviours and understanding pathways to improve people's lives.

I am currently working on the development of Waves 1 and 2 of the Healthy Ageing in Scotland (HAGIS, www.hagis.scot/) study following the successful completion of the HAGIS pilot study in early 2018. I was involved in all aspects of the pilot study from ethics and administrative data applications, presentation/representation of HAGIS at meetings/conferences, development of the survey and development of research funding proposals.

Previously, I was a Research Fellow at the University of Southampton on an EU funded project to reduce the over-prescription of antibiotics in eight European countries and at Kings College London on a project to promote early presentation to a GP for symptoms of breast cancer in older women.     My PhD in Public Health from University College London addressed socioeconomic inequalities in cervical cancer screening.  Previously, I was awarded a BSc in Psychology at the University of Stirling (2008) and MSc in Health, Community & Development at the London School of Economics (2009).
