Scottish Cultural and Political Magazines: New Research Directions

An AHRC Research Network establishing an interdisciplinary research agenda for work on Scottish periodicals which significantly shaped the cultural politics of devolution from the 1960s-1990s. Drawing scholars of Scottish history, politics, literature and publishing together for a programme of 3 events over 12 months, featuring interviews with magazine editors and contributors, public outreach, and sessions developing editorial principles and an impact strategy for the subsequent grant bid (centred on digitising these magazines).

That larger project has these elements:

  2. AHRC Grant (Standard Route) for a major digitisation project in collaboration with external partners, and including postdoctoral research (December 2021- December 2025)
  3. Print anthology of selections from these magazines, to be published in 2023.
