Clearing and Adjustment

  • What is Clearing?

When you get your exam results, you may not meet the conditions of your Firm or Insurance course offers. Clearing gives you the chance to explore new options.

  • How do I apply through Clearing?

Applying to the University of Stirling through Clearing is quick and simple:

    1. On Results Day, you should immediately consult UCAS Track to see if you've met the conditions of your Firm or Insurance offer. If you have not, or would like to apply for a different course, it’s time to explore other opportunities.

    2. Check out the University of Stirling’s list of courses available. You can also find this list on UCAS.

    3. If you spot a course you’re interested in, don’t hesitate! Phone our Clearing and Exam Helpline immediately so that we can tell you more about your chosen course and guide you through the next steps. Don’t forget to have your UCAS Personal ID number ready – this allows us to view your UCAS application and speeds up the process for you.

    4. In most cases, we'll be able to give you an immediate decision over the telephone. If you're offered a place on your chosen course, you will receive an email from the University of Stirling to confirm the verbal offer and to provide further information on what happens next.

    5. Finally, you must then confirm your place at the University of Stirling via UCAS. Once you are happy with your choice, sign in to Track, click “Add Clearing choice” and fill in the details for your new University of Stirling course. This confirms that you definitely wish to accept your verbal offer, and once your details have been verified, Track will update to show that you have been formally accepted by the University.

Still have questions? Email us clearing@stir.ac.uk.

  • What is Adjustment?

When you get your exam results, you may find you have done a lot better than you’d expected. If you have exceeded the conditions of your Firm choice and would now like to apply to the University of Stirling, you can do this through Adjustment.

With your improved results, you may be eligible for an advanced entry – which means you will be able to start your course in Year 2. You may also be eligible to apply for a scholarship or other financial support.

Adjustment is open from 16 August 2018 to 31 August 2018.

Please note: You have five days from the date you meet the conditions of your Firm choice to register and secure a place through Adjustment.

  • How do I apply through Adjustment?

Applying to the University of Stirling through Adjustment is incredibly simple:

    1. You should immediately consult UCAS Track to see if you have met the conditions of your chosen course.
    2. There is no published vacancy list for Adjustment. Check out the University of Stirling’s list of courses, and if you spot a course you’re interested in and you meet or exceed the entry requirements, phone our helpline immediately so that we can tell you more about your chosen course and guide you through the next steps.
    3. If you're offered a place on your chosen course, you will then receive an email from the University of Stirling to confirm that we would like to make an offer and to provide further information on next steps – including opportunities to visit the campus.
    4. Finally, you must email the University to confirm you wish to accept your place before our Admissions team will update UCAS and your confirmed place at the University of Stirling will show in your Track screen.

Still have questions? Email us at clearing@stir.ac.uk.

  • Not applied at all?

If you haven't yet applied via UCAS, we can accept late applications for some courses until 30 June 2018.

For more information on UCAS, deadlines and application guidelines, check out our How to Apply page.
