Jo graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a BSc (Hons) in Geography before working in financial services as a graduate trainee. She later undertook a Postgraduate Diploma in Careers Guidance at Edinburgh Napier University before working as a Careers Adviser with school pupils and school leavers in Stirling and Northumberland.
Since 2003 Jo has worked as a careers professional in Higher Education, firstly at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen before joining the University of Stirling Careers and Employability Service. During this time, she has supported careers education activities with students within the Faculties of Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Health Sciences and Sport, delivered various careers management and work-based learning modules, and supported students through 1 to 1 guidance. Her present role of Business Engagement Manager (Employability) involves engaging with external organisations and working collaboratively with other universities to create events and employability initiatives to benefit students. She also spends some of her time continuing to support students through delivering one-to-one guidance and careers education activities.
As a member of the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services (AGCAS) and Institute of Student Employers, Jo continues to keep very up to date with new recruitment practices and the constant changes happening in the workplace, especially as a result of the COVID pandemic.
