Abstract
First paragraph: The 2008 Central Africa State of the Forest report covers six countries: Cameroon, the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Central African Republic, Gabon, and Equatorial Guinea. These countries cover a total area of 4,048,470 km² and in 2005 had a population of about 86 million inhabitants. The Central Africa sub-region is generally characterized by very strong population growth, estimated at 2,87 %/year, with the total number of inhabitants projected to reach about 99 million by 2010 (United Nations, 2007) and doubling by 2030.
