Abstract
First paragraph: The Congo Basin is the second largest tropical humid forest after Amazonia. Much of it is still closed canopy with continuous cover. Although some (significant) areas are now "empty" or "half-empty" forest, there are also huge, relatively intact areas with important populations of forest elephants, gorillas, bonobos, chimpanzees, forest buffalo, bongo, sitatunga, many species of monkeys and duikers, and three species of pigs.
