Abstract
First paragraph: We are encouraged by the response of Moleón et al. [1] to our work [2]. They agree that the fundamental question is how much carrion is produced among ecosystems, and confirm that this question precedes others. This question is of primary importance to researchers and conservation managers; resource production must be quantified as an essential first step in investigations of availability.
