First paragraph: The Society for Medieval Archaeology exists to further the study of the period from the fifth to the sixteenth century CE. It does so by publishing Medieval Archaeology (a journal of international standing dealing primarily with archaeological evidence), a monograph series, and by other means of communication such as its newsletter and website, holding regular meetings and arranging conferences.
