About me

About me

I am a Research Fellow based within the Dementia and Ageing Research Group in the Faculty of Social Sciences. I am working on the NIHR funded ‘Needs Rounds’ study which aims to improve palliative and end of life care for care home residents.

I was awarded my PhD in Sociology from the University of Glasgow in 2019. My thesis utilised qualitative semi-structured interviews with individuals, their relatives, and mental health advocates to explore whether experiences of community based compulsory treatment orders reflect the rights based intentions underpinning the legislation.

I am interested in disability, ageing, and mental health and how these intersect with issues of social justice and citizenship. My research expertise centre on exploring the lived experience of health and social care provision, focusing on relational aspects of caring practices, how needs and rights are balanced, and how an ethics of care can be applied to improve practice.
