About me

Dr Adam Brooker is a research fellow in the Genetics and Stock Improvement group at the Institute of Aquaculture.

He has 17 years research experience in aquaculture fields involving academic research, commercial research and consultancy. This has given him a broad interdisciplinary perspective on the aquaculture sector and a detailed understanding of aquaculture/environment interactions in the North Atlantic and other regions worldwide.

Adam has a varied academic background with experience in parasitology, ecotoxicology, policy and governance, environmental impacts of aquaculture and socioeconomics of aquaculture in SE Asia. His commercial experience includes environmental modelling and aquaculture engineering.

Adam is currently working on two large, government-funded projects on the use of cleaner fish in Scottish salmon aquaculture, and his research focusses on cleaner fish welfare and behaviour in commercial systems.
