What's included in our International Summer School

Academic tuition

Our expert teaching staff provide a supportive and interactive learning environment. Our study modules include Scottish and international topics, and each module includes a related excursion to bring your studies to life.

Orientation programme

We hold an informal welcome reception, giving you the chance to meet your fellow Summer School students. To help you settle into life in Stirling, our full orientation programme also includes a ‘Welcome Pack’, campus tour, sports facilities tour, local shopping trip, library induction and more.

Module excursions

Each module includes an excursion to a Scottish destination that will bring the module’s unique curriculum to life. You'll be able to put the knowledge you have gained into a real-world context. Past excursions have included:

  • Visits to the Battle of Bannockburn Experience to learn about the famous battle between Scotland and England
  • Tours of the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh
  • Poetry readings with famed Scottish authors in Stirling’s Tolbooth Arts Centre
  • Spooky adventures at the Edinburgh Dungeon
  • Tours around Stirling Castle

Day trips

In addition to our module excursions, we organise day trips to Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews. These trips are an excellent way to enjoy some of Scotland’s major attractions, under the guidance and expertise of our team.

On-campus accommodation

Enjoy luxury student accommodation on our campus. You'll have a private en-suite bedroom in a shared flat (apartment) in one of the University’s newest accommodation buildings. Each flat is shared only with other Summer School students and includes communal living areas for you to relax and socialise with your fellow students. We have Wi-Fi internet access in all of our rooms, so you can easily keep in touch with your friends and family. All accommodation is self-catered and fully furnished, including bed linen, kitchenware and 24-hour University of Stirling staff support.

Farewell Ceilidh

Dedicated 24-hour support team

Our International Summer School team can be contacted 24/7 - available to help with any queries or welfare needs you may have throughout the summer. Our team includes several Resident Assistants who live on campus, so they can be easily contacted whenever you need their assistance.

Sports centre membership

You’ll have full use of our world-class, on campus sports facilities for the duration of your programme. As Scotland’s University of Sporting Excellence, you’ll have access to the same facilities that our Commonwealth and Olympic athletes use, including a swimming pool and tennis courts.
