What's included in our International Summer School

Orientation programme

We hold an informal welcome event giving you the chance to meet your fellow Summer School students. To help you settle into life in Stirling, our full orientation programme also includes a welcome pack, campus tour, sports facilities tour, local shopping trip, library induction and more.

Academic tuition

Our expert teaching staff provide a supportive and interactive learning environment. Our study modules include Scottish and international topics taught by enthusiastic staff.  We teach Monday - Wednesday.

Module excursions

Each module includes an excursion to a Scottish destination that will bring the module’s unique curriculum to life. You'll be able to put the knowledge you have gained into a real-world context.  Excursions can change year on year.  All excursions take place on Thursday or Friday. Past excursions have included:

  • Spooky adventures at the Edinburgh Dungeon
  • Visits to ancient caves
  • Tours around Stirling and Doune Castles
  • Visits to local museums and archives
  • A guided visit to BBC Scotland

Day trips

In addition to our module excursions, we organise transport for day trips to Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews on Fridays. These trips are an excellent way to enjoy some of Scotland’s major attractions and lesser-known sites with helpful hints from our summer team.

On-campus accommodation

Enjoy luxury student housing on our campus. You'll have a private en-suite bedroom in a shared flat (apartment) in one of the University’s newest accommodation buildings. Each flat is shared only with other Summer School students and includes communal living and cooking areas for you to relax and socialise with your fellow students. We have Wi-Fi internet access in all of our rooms, so you can easily keep in touch with your friends and family and complete your assignments. All accommodation is self-catered and fully furnished, including bed linen, kitchenware and 24-hour University of Stirling staff support.
