Guide to Open Day for parents and guardians

Going to university can be a big step, not only for students, but for their families and supporters as well. Our Open Days give you the chance to see the University for yourself and get the answers to any questions you may have.

If you are attending an on-campus Open Day, check out our getting here pages so that you can plan your journey to the University. Try to get here early as it can get busy.

Our on-the-day programme is always available in advance so you can work out how to get the most from the day. We’ve got information and subject presentations, tours of the campus, academic showcases and information stands.

Make sure you put in time for some lunch to have a rest and sample some of our eateries.

For parents attending an on-campus Open Day, this is our tailored session just for you. We’ll take you through everything you need to know, including:

  • the UCAS application process
  • helping students get ready for student life
  • what student support is available at the University

Whether you are attending our on-campus or virtual Open Days, our friendly staff will be available to answer any questions you have around things like entry requirements, applying to the University, our courses and student life. Write down any questions you have beforehand. It’s also a good idea to take some notes on the day so you don’t forget any key information.

At our on-campus Open Day, you can approach our staff and students at the information stands throughout the day. We recommend speaking our student ambassadors. They’re all current students so can give you first-hand info about student life at Stirling.
