Creating sustainable communities through skills

Since the 1970s, the growing complexities of urban society have increasingly impacted on the labour market opportunities of young people and led to a deterioration in labour market prospects among young people located in ex-industrial communities in Scotland. This PhD project will examine the nature of skill associated with youth transitions, and how the skills and ambition of young people aged 16-25 can be advanced to match new industrial demands.
