Abstract
This report presents and discusses the findings of a research study commissioned by Kibble Education and Care Centre, based in Paisley, Scotland. The report covers the first four years in the life of the Kibble Intensive Fostering Service (IFS), from 2004 to 2008, from the perspectives of young men who were matched with, and subsequently moved to live with, specially trained, highly supported foster carers. The study set out to explore the views and experiences of a small number of young men who had recently moved from residential settings to newly established, intensive fostering placements. The particular emphasis of the study was on the extent to which young people felt that they had been supported and encouraged to participate in the planning and decisionmaking processes.
