Abstract
First paragraph: This is a period where the National Health Service (NHS) is actively developing new roles in support of many health care professions. Given issues of health care competencies and that questions around who can safely achieve these competencies exercise many, it is worthwhile revisiting the demise of the enrolled nurse (EN) training in the United Kingdom (UK).
