Abstract
The published information concerning diseases of Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus) and brown trout (Salmo trutta) in aquaculture is examined and discussed. In view of the limited information available the general principles of fish disease epidemiology and control are applied to these species. In order to predict the range of disease problems likely to be encountered in the future the most significant current and potential diseases are briefly described under the headings of viral, bacterial, parasitic and miscellaneous diseases.
