Abstract
High temperature (36 degree C) significantly increased the percentage of males in genetic female fry (XX) and females in genetic male groups (significant only in YY, not in XY group). Aromatase inhibitor showed a strong masculinising effect in XX groups and inhibited feminisation when treated together with high temperature in YY groups. These results imply that aromatisation is mechanistically associated with temperature-dependent sex differentiation in this species.
