First paragraph: This pamphlet is written by members of the Assessment Reform Group. The group started work over 10 years ago as the Policy Task Group on Assessment funded by the British Educational Research Association. Membership has changed slightly over the years but the major focus of the group has not: we have worked on policy issues in relation to assessment and have attempted to have a dialogue with policy makers.
