Abstract
This article examines and illustrates the importance of employee involvement in technical change. However, it argues that in many companies this does not and cannot take place, due to inappropriate organizational structure and culture. The article concludes by calling for the joint renewal of both structure and culture if companies are not only to gain the full benefits from new technology but also to operate in an effective and efficient manner
