Abstract
First paragraph: Noncommunicable conditions, principally cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, cancers, and chronic respiratory diseases, accounted for an estimated 35 million deaths in 2005 (60% of all deaths globally), with approximately 16 million of these deaths being in people under 70 years of age (WHO 2008). These conditions are strongly related to patterns of behaviour that may be modifiable. Achieving health behaviour change is both important, and difficult. To this end, there is an ongoing interest in developing interventions which encourage behaviour change.
