Abstract
We describe the first reported case of mycobacterial infection in a free-ranging pinniped in the Northern Hemisphere. Acid-fast bacteria were demonstrated histologically in the liver of an adult female common seal (Phoca vitulina), andMycobacterium aviumsubsp.aviumwas cultured from the liver.
