Abstract
First paragraph: The evaluation of sustainable development in higher education is an important tool in quality assurance, and allows goals to be checked against results. But despite the key role that evaluation of sustainable development initiatives can play, there are relatively few publications specifically addressing this topic. This special issue is therefore a timely contribution to the debate, containing a set of innovative papers which show how evaluation of sustainability can be performed.
