Abstract
Introduction: Sunbed use is a well-documented risk factor for skin cancer, and the Public Health (Sunbeds) Act 2014 restricts marketing practices to minimise public exposure to harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Despite these regulations, sunbed operators continue to employ marketing strategies that make sunbed use appealing and encourage their use. We conducted this research to examine the marketing practices of sunbed operators in Ireland and evaluate how health information and warnings are communicated to consumers.
