Abstract
This paper examines the importance of listening to communities and recognising health inequalities in primary care, particularly in areas of high socioeconomic deprivation. It draws on a workshop at the GPs at the Deep End international conference (Glasgow, April 2024), co-led by clinicians, researchers, and community partners. To capture and communicate key messages, I created hand-drawn visual notes during the session, later developed into digital versions. These visuals were co-created with GPs and a community group to ensure they accurately represented shared priorities and lived experiences. The paper underscores the need for genuine community engagement and context-sensitive approaches to avoid reinforcing inequities and to strengthen trust and inclusion in health systems.
