Abstract
First paragraph: We read with interest the article by de Vries et al. on the role of the media in communicating about risks linked to crumb rubber (Vries et al., 2021). We come from a range of scientific disciplines including toxicology, risk and media analysis and policy, and have researched crumb rubber (also referred to as tire crumb or rubber granulate) infill and its alternatives in sports fields.
