Abstract
First paragraph: Post-Keynesianism is a tradition of long standing, so why are things different now? Certainly post-Keynesian economics has developed apace, as showcased by the admirable array of examples of new developments in this volume. Yet in the meantime the environment for economists has changed dramatically since the 2007–2009 crisis (the global financial crisis, or GFC). While the core principles of post-Keynesian economics have not changed, the way in which we can discuss the possibilities for this approach and the chances of being heard are very different from what they were 10 years ago. Here we aim to pause and reflect on these opportunities, and the challenges they pose, in order to consider the role of post Keynesianism at the cutting edge of understanding reality.
