Abstract
First paragraph: To represent the past or an essence of an event in the past through any medium is an area that must be approached with caution. As perhaps becomes evident in Rosenstone`s statement, a recreation of the past is always necessarily subjective. These recreations are attempted for various reasons, ranging from a critique of the past to a commentary on contemporary events. However, the ideological and ethical viewpoints on historical representation are a matter that is too wide-ranging to focus on within the confines of this article. I will rather be focusing more thoroughly on how this historicity or the sense of history is created within the visual aspects of a film.
